Remember that your children come first no matter what. Though when you do start to date, it may not be the best idea to introduce them to your children right away, my advice would be to wait a couple of dates until you are certain you are going to be seeing this person, and she might be in it for the long run.

For whatever reason your past relationship didn’t work out, don’t carry that into your present one. Leave the past behind, and if you must look back, just examine the things that went wrong and try to avoid that happening again.

If you’re a single dad in the dating scene, it’s best to date other women that have at least one kid. Trust me on this. I know there are some situations where it will work out the other way, but it’s highly unlikely.

If your new partner really gets along with your kids and they have a great connection, that’s awesome. But if you two don’t seem to be working out, don’t stay with her just because she gets along with your kids. You need a woman who is compatible with both YOU and YOUR kids.

Also if she has kids too, remember that those are her #1 priority. It would also be a good idea if you wait awhile before your partner takes on the responsibility of baby sitting yours kids, and vice versa. You don’t want to bring someone new into their life and have them disciplining them right away.

Finding dates for the single dad may not be as hard as one may seem. Taking your kid to the park where there are likely other single women with kids there may be a place where the single dad can meet women. If your child is Pre-K you may even be able to meet someone at the daycare.
