Online Dating - Pros and Cons
Online Dating - Pros and Cons

In my opinion there are definitely more pros than cons in online dating. For instance online dating sites have been around for more than a decade – and everyday there are new ones that are emerging. Not only that, the dating sites that are around today, are only upgrading their matchmaking features, doing everything possible to ensure that you can find someone to date, marry, have kids with, or eventually just settle down with.

Online dating takes a lot of the guess work out of finding someone to talk to. For instance, if you are on a singles site, there is a pretty good chance that everyone that is on there is single right? Now if you are in a bar, you don’t necessarily know if the person is single or not, sure it doesn’t take much effort to go up and ask the person if they are single, but it does cost money to go out to the bar (for guys anyway).

You don’t have to leave your house to find who you are looking for. You can meet your future spouse, date, life partner, lying on the couch, drinking a mixed drink, cup of tea or whatever, and begin connecting with the person of your dreams right away.

Back to the part where online dating sites are getting better technology wise when it comes to matchmaking. Some of these sites are so sophisticated, that if you participate in essay questions, which could take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple hours, then the online dating sites matchmaking algorithm will actually pick out your potential matches.

They take all of the guess work out of it. Now the sites that have these built in features are usually paid sites – which means that you will have to pay a monthly fee to be a part of that site. I guess that could be one of the cons of online dating, being that you have to pay $20 or so a month to be able to view thousands of single people in your area that may share the same interests as you do. What’s the average night out at a bar or night club cost?

Sure sitting on your computer is not as ‘fun’ as bar hopping, and sure you can probably get someone to come home with you from a bar, but if you are looking for something more than a one night stand, then that would be another one of the pros of online dating.

Cons of Online Dating –

You have to at least be a little bit internet savvy. Learning the chat acronyms such as LMAO and IMO, along with knowing how to set up email accounts, edit photos so that they appear in good quality when you upload them online.

You will have to have internet access. These days you can get this for free if you have a iPad or a Amazon Kindle, or a Smartphone of sort, but for me, having a steady internet access at your place of residence is a must.

You will have to know how to pick out fake profiles, and learn that just because a hot girl on a free online dating site sends you a message, and wants you to view her pics at xxx7878.com, does not mean that she is actually into you, or even real in that matter.

Your also going to have to find a reputable online dating site to be apart of. Once you do that, you are gonna have to sit down and write a resume on yourself to anyone that may be interested in dating you. Uploading a good picture of yourself, and maybe even answer a few questions, along with a monthly membership site fee.

Pros and Cons to Online Dating – Conclusion

Finding a compatible date, or life long partner is definitely easier through online dating sites. If you are clueless of how to approach this, start reading the dating blogs that are out there that will give you the advice you need. By coming here you are off on the right foot. You are going to have to put some work and effort into finding someone. Nothing in this world comes for free.

If you are looking to just hook up with someone for one night, get laid and then bail, then you may want to stick with the bar scene as I doubt online dating is really for you. Everything really depends on the individual though when it all comes down to it.
