There have been countless posts and articles on the internet on what would be the ideal first date. And most of them would agree and say that the bar is not the best place for a first date, especially if you had met that person by means of an online dating site. I have to disagree – for me, the bar is one of the best places to take your first date you met from an online dating site.

Now there are a couple of “musts” that have to meet a certain criteria for this to be an ideal first date. First off, the both of you have to enjoy having an alcoholic beverage or two – or in my case, many, many more than two…. The second criteria that goes with this being an ideal first date, is that the bar serve good food, and does not allow smoking inside of the bar. (Personal preference)

Now I am not saying that the best place to bring your woman you met online is a hole in the wall shithole bar that only serves hotdogs, and is swarming with old bar junkies stinking up the place by chain smoking their cigars and cigarettes.

A good bar where you could take your woman you met from an online dating site – should not only have good food, but good entertainment also. Karaoke would be a fun thing that the two of you could enjoy together and make complete fools out of yourselves. If the bar has a couple of pool tables, then that’s another perfect conversation starter, which will also allow the two of you to have fun while getting to know each other.

As for me – nothing out there gets rid of the first date jitters than having a couple of alcoholic beverages to get the tongue a little loose, and also I have read that alcohol in the stomach will kill those butterflies that are flying around in there.

So if you manage to make the date at the bar last more than a couple of hours, there comes a time where you two have to decide how you are going to get home. By no means should you both hop in your separate cars and head out. Take a cab or call a friend or family member to come pick you up. Or better yet – see if she wants to come back to your place so she doesn’t have to spend money on a cab, and the two of you can watch a movie or something? Who knows….you might even get Lucky on your first date with the woman you met from an online dating site.
