The most popular internet dating scams begin with the person messaging the victim, and doing everything possible to get them to email them on a personal email address and as far away from the dating site as possible.

Online scammers are really all about one thing, getting either your personal information, or getting you money. Being aware of this is half the battle when dealing with these thieves. Don’t fall for sob stories no matter how tragic they sound, if they are asking for money through wire transfer or any other means, this should raise a huge red flag and you should report them immediately.

Contact the webmaster of the dating site immediately. You can also do an internet search for the suspect scammers screen name and see if they have many more profiles on the internet. See scammers don’t just hit up one site, they will expand to thousands of dating sites and social networks trying to make money and steal your information.
